The charging performance depends on the state of charge, ambient temperature, individual driving profile and use of auxiliary consumers. The ranges shown are based on the WLTP best case. The charging times apply to ambient temperatures of 23 degrees Celsius after a preceding drive and may differ depending on the usage behaviour.
With the Flexible Fast Charger, your new electric BMW offers everything that you need for comfortable charging at home from the moment you receive your vehicle. If you wish, you can adapt the charging options to your needs further still. With BMW Charging, you have a choice of attractive individual charging solutions. Contact your BMW Partner and find out which solutions is best suited to your needs.
Depending on the model, the standard charging cable (Mode 2) or the Flexible Fast Charger is included when you buy an electrified BMW – so you can charge your vehicle with any standard household socket. The Flexible Fast Charger can also be used – with a suitable adapter cable available separately – at industrial sockets (high voltage) with a maximum power of up to 11 kW.
For added convenience, speed, and safety, you can select a wallbox to significantly reduce charging times when compared to standard household sockets. Two models are available:
BMW WALLBOX.
The BMW Wallbox features a maximum power of up to 22 kW, a minimalist and weatherproof design, integrated cable storage, and Bluetooth connectivity. And user identification is possible with the My BMW App*.
Before selecting a home charging solution, you should check the connection conditions of the power company providing electricity to your home.
Yes you can. All BMW i models comes with free charging packages.
BMW electric vehicles today have long range and therefore do not require frequent charging. You can make use public charging stations to top up the battery whether you are at a destination, or at a on-the-go fast charging station with DC chargers.
BMW also offers public charging package to customers who have no possibility of installing a private charger at home car park.
Please head over to the public charging section to find out!
You can use the app or BMW Maps in your vehicle's navigation system. You can add a filter to find charging points for alternating current (AC), direct current (DC), and high-power charging (HPC). The vehicle's navigation system will then display a suitable charging station. You can do the same with the My BMW App*. Either way, the charging points are clearly identified and with extended functionalities, such as local points of interest, status, and additional information on each charging station.
The calculation takes into account consumption and charging performance. Values refer to 29–33 degrees Celsius battery start and ambient temperature with certification values excluding additional auxiliary consumers such as seat heating, displays, air conditioning. Individual consumption may vary (depending on e.g. driving profile, temperature, ambient conditions) as well as the individually achievable charging performance (depending on e.g. battery state of charge, vehicle air conditioning). Consumption is based on WLTP best case. Charging performance is based on the maximum possible charging performance (depending on charging type and vehicle).

It’s best to maintain a charge of between 10 and 80 per cent. Lower or higher levels are possible, but to optimise the life of your battery, it is recommended to stay between 10 and 80 per cent. In your vehicle’s menu, you can easily and conveniently set your target charge to 80 per cent, so you’ll never have to worry about it.
A target charge of 80 per cent should cover all your daily driving needs. If you actually need more, simply set a higher target.
As its name suggests, a plug-in hybrid can be charged from a socket, a Wallbox or at a public charging station. When you are on the road, you need the charging cable for public charging (mode 3), which is included in the scope of delivery in Europe. The maximum efficiency of a plug-in hybrid is achieved with a fully charged battery; which means that a charging facility should be available at home and at the workplace. Charge your BMW plug-in hybrid as often as possible so that you can always make full use of the additional electric drive.
Basically, the time needed to charge will vary. For electric vehicles, charging takes longer with alternating current (AC) – depending on the cable and charging point – and direct current (DC)* is significantly faster. Ultra-fast charging via direct current (DC)* is possible at High Power Charging (HPC)* charging stations, which are offered by our partner IONITY in Europe. The battery of a BMW iX, for example, can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in less than 40 minutes with a maximum power of 200 kW.***
Please note: when charging DC and HPC, you should hold the charging plug on the vehicle until the plug is locked. This ensures that the charging process starts without a problem.

Heating and cooling require energy. For that reason, it makes sense to bring your vehicle to the desired temperature while it’s still plugged in, so you can start your trip with the maximum range. It’s easy to set the departure time and “pre-condition” to the desired climate using the My BMW App* or the vehicle menu. That way, you’ll have a full charge and the perfect temperature right when you’re ready to leave – automatically.
