DELEGATE TO RELIABLE HELPERS.
BMW ConnectedDrive Driver Assistance systems in the BMW M4 Coupé.
Numerous innovative technologies support you in various ways and guarantee the highest level of comfort and safety. So you can focus on one of the important things in life – carefree driving pleasure.

BMW HEAD-UP DISPLAY WITH M-SPECIFIC DISPLAY.
The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific display (only with Navigation System) projects information relevant to driving directly into the driver's field of vision. With the press of a button, the driver can switch to the sportier M-specific display. Along with a digital speedometer, it also shows the selected gear and a multi-coloured rpm symbol including shift lights. Navigation instructions, Speed Limit Info including no-overtaking indicator and infotainment tips are also shown. Projections at eye-height mean that the driver can keep his or her gaze on the road. Improved safety and a unique driving experience are the result.

DRIVING ASSISTANT.
The feature Driving Assistant combines the camera-based systems Lane Departure Warning and approach control and person warning with light city braking function.
The Lane Departure Warning detects lane markings and alerts the driver to an unintentional lane change at speeds above approx. 70 km/h by means of vibrations in the steering wheel and a visual warning in the instrument cluster. The warning is not activated when the lane change is deliberate, i.e. when the indicator is turned on.
While the approach control warning with light city braking function detects vehicles, the person warning with light city braking function reacts to pedestrians. If a vehicle ahead brakes heavily, the BMW responds immediately when the approach control warning is activated. The system operates in steps. A warning symbol is first displayed, then the symbol begins blinking and an acoustic warning is emitted, and finally the brakes are lightly applied (when travelling at speeds under 60 km/h). The person warning operates at speeds between 10 and 60 km/h and emits a single-level warning in the event of acute danger. If the system warns of a potential collision, the brakes are simultaneously preconditioned for a faster response. In the event of an emergency, the system applies the brakes. This function can be limited by darkness and fog.

SPEED LIMIT INFO.
Safety first: Speed Limit Info including no-overtaking indicator shows the current speed limit in the instrument cluster, as well as information regarding no-overtaking zones. This is shown on the Info Display in the instrument cluster or in the Head-Up Display. A special camera detects the relevant traffic signs. This information is processed by a control unit along with data from the navigation system. Features including the rain sensor are also incorporated, so variable speed limits in specific instances are also registered – under wet conditions or at certain times of day, for example. This means the driver will always be well informed about the road ahead. The Navigation System Business or Professional are required.

iDRIVE TOUCH CONTROLLER.
The iDrive Touch Controller (part of Navigation System Professional) enables the iDrive system to be conveniently operated with a single hand. Thanks to the touchpad integrated into the Controller, it is easy to enter such information as destinations for the navigation system in handwriting. It can also be used to access a wide range of functions and settings as well as for scrolling through lists. Operation is effortless and intuitive based on one's sense of touch. This makes life especially easy for the driver since it keeps distraction from traffic to an absolute minimum. All functions operated using the Controller can be conveniently viewed in the Control Display.

BMW SELECTIVE BEAM.
With BMW Selective Beam night driving is safer and more comfortable. It provides excellent visibility in the dark without dazzling other drivers. BMW Selective Beam detects other road-users and selectively excludes them from the high-beam headlight distribution. Beam ranges of over 400 m ensure early detection of risks and improved directional tracking.

PARKING ASSISTANT.
The Parking assistant makes parking parallel to the road easier. Whether activated or not, the system measures potential spaces while driving past at a low speed (below 35 km/h) and at a maximum distance of 1.5 m from the row of parked cars.
When a large enough gap has been found, the driver simply turns on the indicator and the Parking assistant takes over the steering, while the driver continues to operate the accelerator, gears and brakes. The system also gives instructions in the Control Display and additional acoustic signals. This way the driver can stay relaxed and enjoy greater safety while parking.

CAMERA SYSTEMS.
Park Distance Control, Surround View, Rear View Camera: Enjoy a clear view in the area around your vehicle when manoeuvring into parking spaces and at road exits.
Park Distance Control (PDC) at the front and rear allows you to park safely and comfortably thanks to optical and acoustic signals.
Surround View shows your vehicle in the Control Display with the aid of a projection from above. The accompanying Side View system guarantees a better overview when visibility is poor at road exits. The Rear View Camera provides welcome support when you are reversing into parking spaces at speeds of less than 20 km/h.

ACTIVE PROTECTION.
Active Protection is the BMW ConnectedDrive preventive occupant protection system.
After the front safety belts are buckled, they are automatically pretensioned when the car starts moving. If a critical situation arises on the road, the front safety belts are reversibly pretensioned if necessary, and the side windows are closed - as is the sliding roof, if there is one. A critical situation would include an emergency stop made by the driver or if the automobile demonstrated excessive understeer or oversteer.
When the vehicle is fitted with approach control warning or approach control warning with light braking function, potential collisions with moving or stationary vehicles ahead can be recognised in advance (within the system’s limits).
In certain accident situations, the system can bring the vehicle to a standstill without any intervention from the driver. This helps to reduce the likelihood of a follow-up collision and to minimise the damage caused by one.
In addition, the Attentiveness Assistant monitors the driver’s behaviour for signs of fatigue. This system analyses the steering response and reacts to irregular driving behaviour by issuing a message in the Control Display suggesting the driver take a break.
